Well, I’m back. And I return to you tanned, refreshed, and with purple hair. I had a great time at the Oregon Country Fair last week, and being completely devoid of technology and camping made me miss SWTOR like you couldn’t believe. Eww…camping. I’m really not a fan. One or two days, ok. But I spent 6 nights sleeping on the ground and waking up freezing every morning. High maintenance… maybe a little. But I enjoy my creature comforts and modern marvels. Anyways, taking a break was probably good thing for me. Whether it was burn out, or disappointment, I needed some time away from the game so I could appreciate it again.
Completely rantless, SWTOR has very little to offer me as a player right now. The aspects I enjoy playing are lackluster. Progression PvE is between cycles, and Ranked PvP continues to remain a joke with population and player problems. Class imbalance also renders my main useless in both fields as Sorc is the least desired healing class in either aspect of the game. Sure, I can do a 16-man LFG and destroy ever other healer…But I could also do that with one eye closed, not using half of my healing spells, and getting high. After my Hippie overload though, I’m ready to kill some pixels and am thus motivated to commit some time and energy to SWTOR again. And seeing that I have time, and patience, it’s time for Summer Cleaning! Kind of like Spring Cleaning, but with less bleach, it’s that time of year where you tidy up your in game life and get your shit in order.
The first thing I do, and probably the most tedious, is a gear inventory. I go through every character and figure out all the loss ends to get myself BiS, or as close as possible. The easiest way I’ve found to do this is just making a spreadsheet listing the gear ratings for my Armorings, Mods, and Enhancements. Because I PvE and PvP, this can take a while. It also get more complicated when I factor in characters with DPS and Healing sets, like my Sorc. But, it's necessary and goes a long way in making sure all my characters have decent gear. I’ve been playing around with crit on the Sorc a bit, and think I’m back to what feels best for me. I went 0 crit for a while but have come back from the Dark Side. I also have a ton of work to do on the Op though, so if anyone wants to do some HM/NiMs on Bastion, let me know.
The next thing I’m tackling is my Cargo Holds. Eeek. The Sorc’s is a 5 tab mess right now and the Bastion toons need their crap consolidated into some semblance of order. I just changed my Op’s Crew Skills so it’s a great chance to grab all the mats I’ll need to get her to 450. Does anyone else have messy cargo holds? I can’t help it. I keep buying Cartel Packs with NOTHING in them and just throwing the items in my bays with contempt. And color crystals! Why the hell do I have so many color crystals? They’re all endurance and crit too… so useless. The only thing they might be used for is if I put them all in hilts and changed them quickly for an in game rave. I have so many crafting mats though. And I don't even craft! I NEVER use my cybertech stuff and my Biochem is useless now that the Sorc is on a server by itself. Hopefully switching my Op to Synthweaving will have been worth it.
The last thing I’ll be doing this week is finishing off achievements in anticipation for Strongholds. One I know I need to get is all my Datacrons and finish off some Reputations so I can get the subsequent decorations. Another thing I NEED to do is the Oricon quests on my Op so I don’t have to drive to DF and DP anymore. There are tons of little lose ends that I haven’t tied up and need to across most of my toons. I don’t think anyone has full affection of all companions expect the Sorc, and I’ve got gifts for days. I'm pretty sure the Sniper doesn't even have class quests finished!
Basically, I’m keeping myself entertained and getting all my ducks in a row for Strongholds. Once that launches, I’ll be so busy decorating I won’t have time or the motivation for any other housekeeping. The next few months looks pretty busy for me PvE wise to get BiS for next cycle, and finishing some PvP grind depending on when (if) they announce Season 2 Rewards. You really have got to keep busy to keep enjoying the game otherwise it's easy to leave. I came back and a whole other group of progression raiders have left, it's getting lonely here...
