I feel like I did a whole lot of nothing today. I was all excited to get some serious PvE in since I hit level 15, but I was too afraid to queue for an “Adventure” alone and had to wait for Chymz to catch up with me. I spent the first few hours I was on just messing with my UI and chatting with Laurie about playing Esper. It’s a good thing I did though, because I didn’t even know there was a Charge Bar/Counter for one of my abilities. All the addons I was using disabled it somehow and I wasn’t even using my main heal correctly...winning.
So, yea. Resetting, reworking, and reorganizing my UI was the bulk of what I did today. This interspersed with some PvP so I could test how I was liking things. Since I’m out of the lowbie tier, I have a new battleground available to me called Halls of the Bloodsworn. I’ve only done it twice so I’m not completely sure what’s going on, but it seems to be a tiered King of The Hill with each faction playing a round of defense and a round of offense. What I do know is that it’s fun to heal and there is just a big Mid-fight I can bomb my AoE heal at.
When Chymz FINALLY hit 15, it was time to PvE. I had already (automatically it seems) gotten a quest when I turned 15 called “Sim Core: A Remarkable Discovery.” I spoke to someone and got sent to some glowey, green guy (who I guess is named the Caretaker) where I waited for my LFG to pop. About 5 minutes. The Adventure, called “Hycrest Insurrection”, was for 5 people and was really just a series of group quests in an instanced area. One interesting aspect was we had to pick which missions we were going to do. On three separate occasions we were given quest options with short descriptions, and the one with the most votes won. I just picked whichever sounded the coolest. After servers come back up I’ll be going in again so it’s gonna be trial and error to find which are the fastest and easiest.
Now, I had thought I would be able to do proper dungeons. Obviously I was misinformed, and thats at level 20. For that reason, I’m not upset or surprised it wasn’t that hard. Only two people died, and one of those was some guy running off into Africa and aggroing mobs. But I think Hycrest was a good introduction on how they’re going to work PvE damage in game. I’ve been noticing that the telegraphs have been getting more and more complex as I level. Instead of just lines and circles, different shapes are coming in to play. There was a nifty sunburst shaped one in Hycrest and also telegraphs with concentric circles. Most of these are within melee range of what we’re fighting, so I’ve got time to reposition as a healer being ranged. Dodge is my best friend on that regard, it’s probably the most efficient way of getting out of ouchies.
Servers are back up though, so it’s time to get back to it. I need to get to level 20 by Sunday so I can do a dungeon before next week. It’s going to be a full week of SWTOR progression starting Tuesday and I won’t have as much time to play WS.
