One of the most important parts of any MMO, for me, is my guild. I've been with Suckafish since pre-launch and I couldn't imagine leaving. It's my home. It's my friends. It's my community. When new members join, they always have questions about the guild. Who started it, who is the GM, why do I get my own special guild rank, and what exactly is a Suckafish?! When I found out that SWTOR was coming out, I almost died from excitement. It's no secret I'm a Star Wars fangirl, and the idea of playing an MMO set in the universe far, far away was my dream. I pre-ordered, was doing betas, and was excited for the game to finally launch. Before that happened though, I found out from my boyfriend Mike (ex-boyfriend now, but thanks for the Bounty Hunter buff) that one of our acquaintances from the local video game store, where Mike was manager, was reforming his WoW guild to play SWTOR. Mike had told him I was going to be playing as well, and he told him to have me apply on their website and I could join. While I was nervous at first to come into a guild where I knew almost no one, I also knew that my life would be a lot easier with other people of play with. So, I went and applied. We were placed on Mandalore the Indomitable, and I was an official Suckafish. The story of where the name Suckafish came from no one remembers exactly. Our officers Gorband, Donn, Curvvy, and Harrow were all in the navy together during/after WoW, and in the facebook messages where they were deciding on their SWTOR guild name, they started throwing the term Suckafish around as an insult. It sounds like something Gorbie would say in my opinion. They liked insulting each other so much with it that they decided to go with it. In essence, Sucakfish was born. After launch, a few of us started to raid with another small guild named "Wookie of the Year" who we eventually merged with, getting us a few members, most importantly my co-healer Tigg. Nightmare Explosive Conflict was when we started to show we were a competitive progression guild and was due in large part to recruiting Phebus (PT tank and Sorc healer), Khamic (the drunken Merc) and Steadfast (one hell of a marauder). I remember that progression well and It was definitely one of the high points in this game for me. We followed our success there with US firsts in NiM Terror From Beyond and Nightmare Scum and Villany with new players Furyi (Sin Tank God), Roovin (Sniper of doom), and Pizza'dah'hutt (King of the Mercs). After Scum and Villany, Gorband and Donn decided to leave the game. This meant a passing of the reins and Steadfast was handed the torch, or HMiC (head mother fucker in charge) as the rank went. Tigg and I had been officers with him for a while, and both felt he deserved it and was up for the task. I'm not exactly leading material which is why I was originally made a pseudo-officer and still have the guild rank PR officer. I know how to shmooze and I talk to EVERYONE.
As a guild, we're mostly a laid back group. We have a lot of fun and honestly enjoy playing together. It's a place where people can always find at least one officer they feel comfortable talking to and there isn't ever loot distribution grumpiness. You give us a loot list and keep us updated, you get loot almost every week. We are a competitive guild, both with other guilds and with ourselves. We have a lot of pride having many of the top players in their classes being a part of this guild. Our DPS is especially monstrous. We talk some shit, ok I talk some shit. I'm proud of what we've done as a guild and I have the tendency to let people know. That being said though, it's an environment that many people come into wanting to learn. We try hard to help our new members and have mentors around to give advice on gearing, rotation, and any class questions. I've seen a lot of players, myself included, become far better players by being in this guild. There has been some drama. There always is. But it hasn't slowed us down, it just makes us go harder. If you want to check us out, we have class guides, videos, and random craziness on our website. We're always looking for exceptional players (especially tanks!) and if you think you can hang we'd love to have you.
