I know, I know. It’s been forever. No gossip. No elitism. Nothing. It’s almost as if 2.8 sucked the life out of me for two weeks...oh wait..it did. That whole mess, and having to live the nightmare, during the already stressful act of progression burnt me out and into a mindless Hearthstone binge lasting 5 days. It’s not fair I can play on my iPad. I shouldn't be able to lounge and game! It’s also summer, which means I’m gone a lot. It’s festival season, meaning I’ll be gone for 4-5 days at a time listening to music, looking at great crafts, and eating awesome food. Plus dressing up in costumes with my friends. I’m working on a really cool set of fish scale fairy wings for a Sea Fairy costume I'm making.
The 2.8 Fiasco
Since I’ve already been really vocal about the whole progression issue, I’ll keep this to some of the other aspects of 2.8 I’ve been thinking about. Where balance is concerned, there were a lot of good changes made and some classes are becoming popular for the first time, operative and madness inquisitors. The changes being made, and what we continue to see where class balance in concerned, is focused on survivability and taking the RNG out of certain specs and abilities. Please give me innervate procs...I beg you. The operative answers were a little off putting, after the fact though. Which if you haven’t read them is basically “Re-spec heals. Our metrics tell us they’re tier 1.” Awesome…
The failure of the 16 player LFG system was also really disappointing. Not only was it the cause of all the server problems, but it’s been changed to 8 player queues. Which, by their own admission, is the harder of the two. Other than that, I like the new rotating system being employed. The commendation grant is huge and makes it easier for players to grind BiS. I just hope 2.8 is not a precursor to future implementation of content. GSH in particular, which really needs to go off without a hitch. BioWare simply can't afford letting down subscribers after such a long, dry, content spell.
What I’ve Been Doing
So then...what have I been up to. Predominantly, it’s been Hearthstone. I enjoy that I can be really laid back and just play with friends, or use my big baddy decks to play others. It’s wonderful that I can play at both my computer and iPad, which is what I use frequently. The other day I was laying outside tanning and pwning people with my Priest deck. Right now there’s a bug which is game breaking, my friend Adam showed me earlier. It just freezes the game and you can’t do anything. I guess it’s been around for weeks and hasn’t been fixed yet. Fix your games people!
I’ve also been grinding out some TV series. Summer is always so boring with it’s lack of TV content (see what I did there?) and there isn’t much to look forward to each week. Game of Thrones is over (anticlimactically in my opinion) and that means all I have to look forward to on Sundays is Penny Dreadful. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. Eva Green is stellar and if you’re a horror lit buff you will appreciate the creative re-imagining. I’ve also started watching Syfy’s new show, Dominion, which is a post apocalyptic spin off of the 2010 movie Legion. If you liked the movie, or at least thought it was entertaining, it’s worth watching. No Paul Bettany though, which is sad.
What To Look Forward To
During the Summer of SWTOR I’ll still be around. While I’m not happy with the game on a lot of levels, I still enjoy playing. I love podcasting and blogging, plus I love hanging out with my guild. Beating Ranik in Hearthstone always is a good end to the night. I’ll also be streaming some more this summer, just not SWTOR. So if there are any games you think I should try out, let me know! I also may start reviewing some shows I like, Dominion being first, and anything else which cases my attention.
Then, there are you guys. Anything you want to know? Are dying to find out? Wanna know my opinion on? Ask and ye shall receive.
