As a reflection of my gypsy life out of game, my character has been wandering about the galaxy far, far away recently. Mandalore the Indomitable, Bastion, Harbinger, and now Shadowlands have been my home in game; I’ve been at the last about two weeks now. It’s taking a little getting used to, all this moving. But its nice meeting new people and seeing how things are on other servers than where I came from. Is the grass always greener? The East Coast timezone is definitely throwing me for a loop though. I’m constantly worried I’m not on time and having to add and subtract three to keep on schedule. Also, who is this Kirito guy in general chat!?
From what I can tell it’s a pretty active server. Pugs on fleet seemed to get filled pretty quick and the one I’ve done so far hasn’t been terrible. I’m getting used to my new guild, <HMD Magenta>, and making new friends. I even did some Dread Palace on PTS. As a DPS! It was fun, but stressful. Especially Tyrans! I know a few fellow Bastioners who have also come to Shadowlands to PvP. A few of ex-Suckafishes are playing with Chandarin, another progression PvE guild. Two on a server is a lot! Bastion and Harbinger (after Hatred left) only really had one. Having on server competition is nice. I remember when NiM EC was happening and we got to shit talk with <Potato> during it. Gotta love that friends competition!
As usual, I’ve been doing a lot of PvP. It’s been a steady pop of regs warzones, even late at night, and I never have to wait that long in queue. I’ve done ranked also and its gone pretty well. It’s pretty organized with an ops group with open invites and a Facebook group that I joined to gather the PvPers together. It’s an easy way for people to see how many people are queued and who is interested in playing. There are definite Ranked lulls though, and sometimes i wont get a pop for hours. During these times I switch between heals and DPS, just to check for different types of pops, but it doesn't seem to matter. Just gotta get the pops when they are hot.
Most people have full expertise and are fairly well geared, which is a good change. There isn’t a FoTM class overload, lots of Merc dps, Op dps, and Assassins. No juggs and Madness Sorcs everywhere! I also haven’t seen a lot of queue syncing, at least as bad as it was on other servers. While the pub side is fairly empty, I rarely see any, people don’t seem to be making 4 man premades and queuing on the light side.
Just to see the complete picture, I even queued for some GSF. I sat in queue for about 20 mins and then got a 7v7 pop. I had no fucking idea what i was doing though, so I only did the one game. I don’t even think i was moving forward correctly. Are you supposed to go that slow?
So if you’re on Shadowlands, and wanna do something, let me know! I have to name change to MaeBee so add me to your friends list! I’ll be your pocket healer.
