I love when two passions I have result in a mash up of nerdy epicness. Runway couture and Star Wars? Yes Please. These gowns from Rodarte combine pretty Star Wars prints of memorable scenes and iconic images with a-symmetrical draping. Result? A great fashion moment. It's pretty easy to find Star Wars clothing now a days. T-shirts, leggings, shoes, even lingerie can be found on the internet for nerdy fashionistas and fangirls/fanboys to flaunt their love of SW. True story? I'm writing this in a sweatshirt of an AT-AT chasing R2-D2. The closing looks from Rodarte's Fall 2014 line raised the nerd fashion bar though. These five dresses were well within Rodarte's typical textile style and story, while being distinctly different and standing apart. The soft draping and gauzy accents enhance the iconic images and give the looks an ethereal cohesiveness. I love the contrast and delicacy of the twin Tatooine sunset dress. It's as if the dress is a literal depiction of planet and space. The Death Star dress is particularly to die for (too soon?), with the symmetry of cut and image playing off each other. Both the Droid dress and Luke dress remain soft and feminine, even with the complex print, due to the continuation of background color onto the bodice and Grecian shoulder draping.
