As some of you know, one of my best friends I met playing SWTOR and I visit him often. In fact, I'm headed to sunny San Diego right now! That's why you haven't heard from me the last few days.
The first stage of my trip meant going to Eugene to catch the train to San Francisco. I recently moved to the coast, so I decided to head there a day early to visit some other friends. It was nice seeing my girlfriends in Eugene. We watched Burlesque, which is this terribly amazing movie with Cher and Christina Aguilera, and ate burritos from a food cart. I stayed the night at a guildmate's apartment; who I actually met in game first, after he joined my guild, and then realized we lived in the same town! When I got there we walked a few blocks to Growler Guys, a local beer dispensary, and he let me pick what we got. Obviously we went home with a hard cider called Pink. Which was pink, and delicious.
I ended up getting a beta for WildStar this weekend, also, and I was bummed I was going to miss it. I had told my guildmate about it though and he surprised me by downloading it in advance. That's probably the reason I ended up at his house to be honest, and not staying with the girls. We played a few hours worth, but ultimately the booze was more exciting than the grind and we just watched Samurai Champloo and Mystery Team instead. The game looked really stellar, and I thought my Aurin Esper was adorable, but I hated the quest directions. Everything was pretty linear, but I like visual representations of where I need to go. Clicking on every quest to activate the pop up arrow was tedious. It also took forever to get just a few levels, which doesn't bode well for higher levels. I got to lead vegetables to safety though, which was fun.
My train didn't leave until 5 the next day, so I went for coffee and croissants with a girlfriend for brunch and then back to her house. We watched The Great Gatsby and debated the flaws and triumphs of Daisy. Every girl has a little Daisy in them I think. The nieve disregard for the heart strings of men she controls. Casually and a little carelessly. It was a beautiful day outside and about two hours until my train, so we decided to get some drinks at this bar, Jackaloupe, which is conveniently next to the station. My friends swear by drinking on the train. I'm always terrified I'll get sick, but I took a chance and had a few drinks (Kettle One dirty martinis) before I boarded. I didn't get sick, thankfully
Sometimes I fly directly to San Diego, but if Jon is in San Francisco I'll train there and make the 6hour drive south with him. I've gotten to really enjoy the train ride. The scenery is beautiful and the 15 hours gives me a chance to watch some movies and read. I've been wanting to start the Divergent series so it was a great opportunity.
After the train, it takes us about 6 hours to drive to San Diego. I came prepared and downloaded Star Wars: The Old Republic Fatal Alliance from Audible. I used the free book download from Torocast, which seemed fitting.
While I'm down here look for a lot of posts. I'll also be streaming at least 4 days a week. Nightmare Dread Fortress progression is happening as well as the rest of 2.7, so look for class guides and operations strats on here. Now it's time to enjoy some sunshine!
