May the 4th is a very special day for me every year. The whole world is celebrating the thing that I really, really love, so it's basically a pre-birthday for me. This year, instead of my usually double trilogy marathon, I convinced Gudarzz to go see Star Wars Legion at the Robert Vargas Gallery in LA. The exhibit from Lucasfilm, Disney Consumer Products, and Neff was uber geeky mashup of iconic Star Wars and creative re-imagining.
Pure Star Wars
Star Wars on Star Wars? Love. It was really great to see what the artists loved about Star Wars in their own style.
While the whole show was a feast for the eyes, these helmets looked delicious.
I'm an equal opprtunity nerd, so I loved these helmets that combined my geeky passions. There were comic characters, Cylons, and even a Dcotor to be found.
The High Life
I liked these helmets just because they were pretty. Or shiney. Or covered in awesome. The Taco Truck helmet was a fan favorite and a must see.
These super creative helmets were complete transformations from just a white helmet. Some, I wouldn't even be able to recognize!
Not Just Helmets
Robert Vargas, the host, added to the excitement by doing two live paintings over the weekend. I was able to watch the finishing of the second one, and it was amazing. Also on display were some re-imagining of full Stormtrooper figures. Guess how excited I was to spot Hello Kitty.
